Steel Crossfire Team Deathmatch Guide

Win TDM through transform timing, aim discipline, and team fights—not random chase kills.

Last updated:

Team Deathmatch (TDM) is Steel Crossfire’s elimination-focused mode on Roblox from Marmot’s Oven. Valorians and Reavers race to a kill quota without capture zones. TDM is the fastest way to learn shooting, transform muscle memory, and chassis matchups before you queue Domination for objective pressure. This guide covers TDM rules, mid-fight Bot / Vehicle / Jet swaps, control bindings, starter picks, and when to graduate to Domination tips.

TDM rules in Steel Crossfire

Standard pub TDM awards eliminations to the team that reaches the score cap first (or leads when time expires). There are no rotating capture circles—map control still matters because spawn paths, health pack routes, and vertical lanes decide how often you fight on your terms.

Key differences from Domination:

  • Score source — Kills only; standing on empty ground earns nothing.
  • Tempo — Matches often snowball when one team controls mid and spawns closer to fights.
  • Transform risk — Mid-fight form swaps are more common because you are not anchored to a cap circle.

Full mode comparison lives in How to Play Steel Crossfire. If TDM is your first mode, read Getting Started for lobby flow and faction pick.

Why TDM still matters in Season 1

Season 1 branding (SEASON 1 in the experience title) pushes Battle Pass grinds and Domination clips, but TDM remains the best training queue:

  • Test Pointrunner, Revv, Bastion, and Hardline without losing because your team ignored B point.
  • Practice T transform, E melee, and Q parry under fire—defaults documented on PC controls.
  • Warm up before redeeming SEASON1 boosters from Active Codes so boosted minutes are not wasted on rust.

Shards and pass XP still pay on completed TDM rounds—see How to Get Shards for payout habits.

Mid-fight transform tactics

The signature Steel Crossfire skill is transforming during a duel, not only between engagements.

Bot → Vehicle burst

When an enemy overcommits in Bot form, pop Vehicle to ram or reposition. Works best with Beater or Revv lines once unlocked; starters should practice on Pointrunner escape routes first (Pointrunner & Revv tier notes).

Do: Transform behind cover or when the enemy reloads. Don’t: Transform in the open against Hardline burst—animation lock is real.

Bot → Jet disengage

Losing a Bot duel? Jet out, reset height, re-enter as Bot on their flank. This is safer in TDM than Domination because you are not abandoning a cap tick—just avoid chasing one player across the whole map while your team loses mid.

Vehicle → Bot cleanup

After a successful Vehicle ram, drop to Bot immediately for gun cleanup unless you are sure no third party is nearby. TDM lobbies love third-party steals.

Controls that win TDM

Default PC Bot bindings from the official experience page:

  • T — Transform cycle
  • E — Melee
  • Q — Parry

Remap via Controls if T conflicts with Roblox chat focus. Mobile players should verify touch zones on mobile controls—TDM punishes mis-taps harder than Domination because there is no objective anchor.

Melee and parry decide close Bot brawls—read Melee & Parry guide before spamming E into Centurion anchors.

Faction and team comp in TDM

Valorians vs Reavers share kits; faction changes paint and voicelines, not stats (Factions guide). In TDM pub queues:

  • Run one Bastion or Centurion-style anchor if your team keeps dying in mid.
  • Pair Pointrunner / Revv flex with Hardline angle control when duos queue together.
  • Avoid four-Jet lobbies unless you enjoy losing ground control.

Best starter bots for TDM

From Best Starters:

BotTDM role
PointrunnerFlank, mid-control, safe Jet disengage
RevvAggressive Bot duels and chase kills
BastionHold choke; win trades when team groups
HardlineRidge control; punishes predictable transforms

Unlock Beater, Centurion Major, Grand Beater, or Super Centurion only after TDM fundamentals stick—Unlock Characters explains Shard paths.

Advanced TDM patterns

Spawn trap awareness — Winning teams spawn forward. If you keep dying instantly, rotate wide—not straight into mid.

Transform baiting — Fake T audio/visual tells; some players panic Jet early. Follow with Q parry when they melee (Melee & Parry).

Third-party timing — Let two enemies fight, then Vehicle in for both. Selfish but effective in solo queue.

Anti-Hardline — Smoke routes with Vehicle speed; do not stand still on ridges.

When to leave TDM for Domination

Move to Domination tips when:

  • You win TDM lobbies without padding stats on spawn campers.
  • You transform intentionally at least once per fight.
  • You understand faction spawn paths from Factions guide.

Stay in TDM if you still die mid-T press—objectives will not fix inputs.

Season 1 and codes synergy

Redeem SEASON1, 20KLIKES, UPDATE, and 20KLIKES1 on Active Codes before long TDM sessions. Stack XP boosters with Season 1 Battle Pass guide goals.

TDM is Steel Crossfire’s proving ground. Win transforms mid-fight, control mid with your starter, then carry those habits into Domination when you are ready for Season 1 objective play.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Steel Crossfire questions.

How do you win Team Deathmatch in Steel Crossfire?

Reach the kill limit before the enemy team by controlling mid, winning transform trades, and finishing weakened targets. Map control and spawn advantage matter even without capture points.

Is TDM or Domination better for Shards?

Domination often pays more when you win and touch objectives, but TDM is faster for warm-ups and learning transforms. See How to Get Shards and redeem Active Codes boosters before long sessions.

What are the default TDM transform controls on PC?

Bot mode uses T to transform, E for melee, and Q for parry. Remap in settings via our Controls hub if needed.

Which starter bot is best for TDM?

Pointrunner fits most players for flanks and disengage. Revv suits aggressive duelists; Bastion anchors mid; Hardline holds angles. Read Best Starters for match-by-match reasoning.

Should I practice TDM before Domination?

Yes. TDM teaches aim and mid-fight transforms without objective pressure. Move to Domination Tips once you stop dying during transform animations.

Do Valorians have an advantage in TDM?

No. Factions are symmetric in stats. Pick Valorians or Reavers for aesthetics and friends—see our Factions guide for details.
